A picture recently made the rounds on social media that sent a chill through the hearts of any Jew that saw it, and should have served as evidence to any level-headed human being on the planet, that a dangerous shift in western culture has occurred.
The picture featured a non-artistic spray-painted message on a wall by the side of the road that read…
“I hated Jews before it was cool”
This miscreant’s simple declaration suggests a pride that belies the cowardice of their anonymity, but also serves to substantiate what Jews already know to be true. The world’s willingness to perpetuate a false “humanitarian” narrative fueled by an unbelievable campaign of reverse propaganda whereby a group gleefully and repeatedly perpetrates the most heinous acts of inhumanity, and then declaring the opposite to be true, is not about Israel. It is not about Zionism, nor are the former or the latter separate from the people to whom their hostility is directed.
It is about Jews!
They know it, and they know that we know it. But they are also acutely aware that it has always been alarmingly easy to convince a lamentably unending multitude of intellectually unsophisticated, misanthropic, and maladjusted individuals, that all of their misfortune stems from a group of people with an inexplicably notorious agenda to stand in their way.
Lost is the irony that a people with the most historically legitimate claim to perhaps the smallest piece of land in the history of mankind can so easily be dubbed “colonizers”. The narrative serves so well a growing legion of directionless souls, and provides so clear a sense of purpose, that there is virtually no incentive for them to peer any deeper into the source of their information, or their own woeful impotence.
Jewish Identity. Jewish Culture. Jewish Literature.
Can someone have a critical opinion of Israeli government? Of course. It’s a government like any other. Israeli citizens protest and criticize policy just like everyone else. Oops, sorry. Just like everyone in a FREE society. But we have just ONE homeland, and we have no choice but to defend it. So, the moment you succumb to the never-ending fabrications about Jewish people, is when you descend into actual antisemitism, and truly abject ignorance.
Read a Jewish book. Or for those no longer in possession of the outdated skill, watch a Jewish movie. You may come across some stereotypes. All cultures have them. Stories may include comical and questionable characters just like any other. But seek and ye shall find a common thread within our arts:
Celebrations of LIFE. Family values. Humour. And an indestructible spirit that honors the pursuit of excellence, and above all, the sanctity and preservation of life.
That’s who we were in the beginning. And that is who we will be in the end.
